"We live in the days long drawn out between the two comings of Christ. Our lives and hearts seem suspended between these different periods. It's as if one part of us reaches backward in faith, love, and remembrance to Jesus' first coming while the other part stretches out in expectant hope, desperate longing, and loving desire for His second coming. And because we truly love Him, the present delay puts us in this radical and inescapable tension of heart and soul."
